About MASO

Malaika Social Organization (MASO) is a community-based Non-Governmental Organization registered in Tanzania, headquartered in Sumbawanga, Rukwa Region.

We work to empower youth and women, combat Gender-Based Violence (GBV), protect the environment, and improve access to clean water across Nkasi District and surrounding areas.

Our work is guided by the belief that every community member — especially women, children, and youth — deserves a safe, healthy, and empowered life.

Mission

To empower communities in Rukwa through targeted interventions in gender equality, environmental protection, clean water access, and youth development.

Vision

A Tanzania where every community thrives — with equal rights, a protected environment, and opportunities for all young people.

Our Focus Areas

GBV Prevention

Protecting adolescent girls from GBV and high-risk environments through school-based programs in Sumbawanga Municipal Council. Target: 500 girls, 5 schools.

Clean Water Access

Improving and protecting water sources. The Kantawa Water Source project in Nkasi District was successfully completed, benefiting hundreds of families.

Environmental Conservation

Teaching children and communities to plant trees, protect forests, and preserve Tanzania natural heritage through hands-on programs.

Youth Development

Building skills, confidence, and economic opportunities for young people across Rukwa Region through sports, education, and mentorship.
